Problems with the NOW app on your LG TV

Having problems using the NOW app on your LG smart TV? Here are a few common issues and what you can do to fix them.

2016 LG TVs will no longer be supported

From 23 January 2025, the NOW app will no longer be available on 2016 LG TV models. See all the devices you can watch on

Your LG TV may take a while to start up and load the NOW app while it reconnects to the network. Give it a few more minutes to finish loading.

If that doesn’t work, something else may be causing the delay. Head to our slow loading and buffering help article for more troubleshooting tips.

If the NOW app isn’t appearing on your home screen, within the Premium section, you’ll need to perform an Initialisation of Premium (thankfully, not as complicated as it sounds).

Just go to your settings to prompt ‘Initialisation’ for all your apps. This should fix any corrupt files and ensures you have the full set of apps on your TV.

To do this:

  • Press the Home / Smart button on your remote control
  • Go to Settings and scroll down to Support
  • Select Initialisation of Premium and press OK when prompted.

If your settings don’t match the ones above, try these steps instead:

  • Press the Home / Smart button on your remote control
  • Go to Premium and choose Option (or press GREEN if using a standard remote control)
  • Select Initialisation of Premium and press OK when prompted.

After completing these steps, the NOW app should appear within the Premium section of your apps home screen.

If you see the wrong time displayed when watching a live sporting event, movie or TV show, it usually means the time settings on your LG device need to be adjusted. There are 2 ways to fix this:

Do you have an aerial?

Simply connect your aerial to the back of your LG TV and your time settings will reset automatically.

Don’t have an aerial?

You’ll have to manually update your time settings:

  1. Go to Settings and select Time.
  2. On the clock that appears, set the correct time.
Once this is done, the correct time will be displayed when you launch the NOW app.

If you’re watching sports, movies or shows where objects are moving at speed, you may notice the objects being duplicated – affecting your picture quality.

This may occur with the latest LG models, due to TruMotion technology. Usually, it reduces blur and makes images crisper. We recommend turning it off when watching NOW, as it can occasionally result in duplicated objects.

To turn TruMotion off:

  1. Go to Settings and select Picture.
  2. View your Picture Options.
  3. Finally, turn TruMotion OFF.
