How to set up your NOW TV Smart Stick

How to set up your NOW TV Smart Stick

Now that you’ve got your shiny new Smart Stick home, it’s time for your TV to meet its new best friend! Let’s get watching...

You should have this in the box with your NOW TV Smart Stick:

  • Remote control
  • 2 x AAA batteries
  • USB power cable
  • Power adaptor with mains plug.
If any of these are missing from your box, get in touch.

Step 1: Create an account

Already loving NOW TV? Skip to Step 2.

New to NOW TV? You’ll need to set up an account before you can get stuck in. Head over to NOWTV.com/setup to buy or activate a Pass.

Step 2: Connect to your TV

Plug your Smart Stick into the HDMI port in your TV.

Plug your Smart Stick into the HDMI port on your TV

Your Smart Stick won't work unless it's connected to a power source. Plug it into a wall outlet with the power adaptor provided.

Help tip You can also power it through your TV's USB port as shown above, but we recommend you plug into the mains if you can to avoid any problems with low power.

Now go to your source/input menu on your TV and select the HDMI input you’re plugged into.

If you can't access your TV's HDMI port to plug in your Smart Stick, the easiest solution is to buy an HDMI extender. (You'll need a v1.4 extender, widely available from all good electronics retailers.)

Step 3: Power and pair your remote

Open the battery compartment of your remote control and pop in the batteries as shown (they both go the same way up).

Put the batteries in your smart remote

Your remote should now pair automatically with your Smart Stick.

If your remote doesn’t pair automatically, hold down the small button below the battery compartment for a few seconds.

You’ll see this screen while your remote pairs with your Smart Stick:

When the green light in the battery compartment flashes, your remote has connected.

Step 4: Connect to Wi-Fi

Next, your Smart Stick will scan for wireless networks. Select yours from the list of networks using the up and down arrows on your remote and press OK. Enter your network password and hit Connect.

If you see an Update available message at this stage, just press OK to update the software. Your device will restart once the update is installed.

Step 5: Set the display type

Your Smart Stick can detect the best resolution for your TV. Press OK on your remote to do this automatically.

Just select ‘No’ when you see this screen:

You’ll be presented with options to change the display type. Pick the one you want and press OK to confirm.

Step 6: Accept the T&Cs, and sign in

Scroll down to read the terms and conditions, then hit Accept. Now sign in to your NOW TV account.

Wait a few moments while your apps update, then open the NOW TV app and away you go!
