Can I watch NOW outside the Republic of Ireland?

Roaming in the UK has now ended

As of 29 December 2020, you are no longer entitled to stream your NOW Membership while in the UK, as the UK is no longer part of the EU.

Heading to the UK? Don't worry – you can still download shows and movies to your device before you travel, and watch offline while you're away. Find out more

As well as watching all over the Republic of Ireland with no restrictions, you can take your NOW Membership with you to many European countries too, for up to 30 days at a time.

To enjoy roaming with NOW outside the Republic of Ireland, you must:

  • Have an Irish payment card registered on your account
  • Have watched NOW on your account in the Republic of Ireland within the last 30 days
  • Be in one of the EU countries listed below – you can't stream NOW in any non-EU countries.

You don't need to do anything differently when watching outside the Republic of Ireland. Just make sure the country you're in is covered, and start watching on any of our supported devices.

Can't watch back in Ireland?

We're aware some NOW Members may experience issues watching NOW back in the Republic of Ireland after reaching the limit for watching abroad. We're working to fix this as soon as we can.

In the meantime, you can start watching again by re-entering your card details in Payment details.

You won’t be able to become a NOW Member or add a new NOW Membership when roaming. NOW Membership must be purchased while in the Republic of Ireland.

You can still enjoy many of the apps on your NOW Smart Stick or Box when travelling in the countries listed above, including Netflix, YouTube and Vevo.

However NOW is not responsible for catch up apps like All 4 and 3player. These apps might not work outside the Republic of Ireland.

Yes you can – you’ll be able to enjoy your NOW Membership in exactly the same way when travelling in any of the countries listed above.

However NOW is not responsible for catch up apps on your NOW Smart Stick or Box, like All 4 and 3player. These apps might not work outside the Republic of Ireland.

To roam in Europe with your Irish NOW account, you must be a Republic of Ireland resident. Registering a Irish payment card on your account confirms that you’re a resident of the Republic of Ireland.

Go to Payment details and switch to an Irish payment card before you travel to make sure you can watch outside the Republic of Ireland.

There's no difference to the quality of the stream you receive when roaming compared to streaming at home.

However other factors outside of NOW's control, such as your Wi-Fi connection and the mobile data speed available in the country you're in, can affect your stream.
