Important information about your NOW Broadband hub
At NOW, our mission is keeping you connected to what you love. That means bringing you the latest innovative technology. As we do this, we’re always making improvements to our infrastructure to enhance its reliability and security.
The UK government has recently published a security framework to ensure every telecom provider in the country follows the same guidance for their networks. This will make the UK’s telecommunications infrastructure stronger and more resilient, and will reduce the risk of security threats.
In line with the guidance, we’re emailing all NOW Broadband Members to let you know that while your hub continues to work and keep you connected to the internet, it no longer receives service or security updates.
Unfortunately, we’re unable to provide an updated NOW Broadband hub. To get a new hub, you’d need to sign up to a new contract.
What does this mean for me?
There are 3 things you could choose to do next.
Option 1: Keep your current hub
If you wish to keep your current hub and stay with NOW Broadband, you don’t need to do anything. We’d advise you to change the administrator password to improve the security of your hub.
(These steps might be slightly different depending on the type of hub that you've got.)
Step 1: Connect your device, e.g. laptop or mobile, to the hub through Wi-Fi or an ethernet cableStep 2: On your device, open a web browser, e.g. Google Chrome/Microsoft Edge/Apple Safari
Step 3: Type 192.168.0.1 in the URL/website bar
Step 4: Select the Maintenance tab. A sign-in box will pop up
Step 5: Enter these login details (they must be lower case):
• Password: nowtv
• Enter a new password. Your new password must be 1–16 characters and can use letters, numbers and special characters. It’s case sensitive, so we recommend using both upper and lower case letters
Step 8: Enter your new details in the pop-up login box:
• Password: Your new password.
Your hub admin password has now been changed.
Changing your admin password makes it harder to gain unauthorised access to your hub. However, as your hub will no longer be receiving regular updates and patches, you should be aware that your network and devices will still be vulnerable to hackers and to being infected by malware, ransomware and other security threats.
Option 2: Switch to NOW Powered by Sky
If you’d like to have the most up-to-date hub from Sky, you can switch to NOW Powered by Sky. Find out more
