How to fix Xbox 360 display problems

Having trouble watching NOW TV on your Xbox 360? Here are some of the most common problems you may come across and how to fix them.


The colours look washed out

If you’re getting a washed-out picture, a few tweaks to your settings should fix any display problems and get your screen back to glorious technicolour.

First, watch something else on NOW TV to check if the colour’s washed out on that too. If just one show is affected, get in touch and we’ll investigate it for you.

However, if all the shows you try to watch have the same issue, we have 2 solutions for you. The first usually fixes the problem. If it doesn’t, you may have to go a step further and clear the cache – we’ll guide you in the second one.
 
  1. Press the Guide button on your Xbox 360 controller to get to Settings, and select System Settings.
  2. Go to Console Settings, click Display, and then select Reference Levels, followed by Expanded.
  3. Return to Display and click on HDMI Colour Space and then select Source.
To clear your cache:
  1. Follow the first step in Solution 1.
  2. In System Settings, select Storage or Memory.
  3. Highlight a storage device (any will do) and then press Y on your controller.
  4. When asked to Confirm storage device maintenance, just click Yes.

You’re all set. If you try watching NOW TV again, the colour should be improved.

 

Sound is out of sync with picture

If the sound is lagging and doesn’t match the picture when you’re watching NOW TV, just follow these steps to fix the problem:

  • Press the Guide button on your Xbox 360 controller to get to Settings, and select System Settings.
  • Go to Storage, and select All Devices, followed by Games and Apps.
  • Click on NOW TV, and then press Y to delete all.
  • Go back to All Devices, and this time select System Items
  • Find Optional Media Update and delete it.

Finally, just reinstall the app by restarting your Xbox 360 and downloading the NOW TV app again. Now that you have the latest update, your sound should be back in sync.

 

I can’t log out of my Xbox Live account

To log out of your Xbox 360, simply go to the Help and Settings menu and click the SIGN OUT button.

If you can't see the SIGN OUT button, it means there are multiple users signed in to Xbox Live at the time the NOW TV app is running. You'll need to sign out of all the Xbox Live accounts except the one that is also signed in to NOW TV.

Once you sign out of the other Xbox Live accounts, go to Help and Settings on your NOW TV app and you’ll now see the SIGN OUT button.

 

I’m getting error code 800700E8

If you get this error message when using NOW TV on the Xbox 360, the Xbox Live Marketplace has encountered an error. This error is temporary and may not relate to your payment or account information – so wait a little while (30 minutes to an hour) and then try accessing the content again.
 
If it still doesn’t work, go to the Xbox Live Service Status page to see if there are any outages. If not, you’ll need to contact Xbox Support for further help.
