How to set up your NOW TV Smart Box with 4K and Voice Search

Now that you’ve got your shiny new Smart Box home, it’s time for your TV to meet its new best friend! Let’s get watching...

You should have this in the box with your NOW TV Smart Box:

  • Remote control
  • 2 x AAA batteries
  • HDMI cable
  • Power adaptor with mains plug.

If any of these are missing from your box, get in touch.

You'll also need to have a smartphone or computer at the ready. 

 

Step 1: Plug in your Smart Box

Connect your Smart Box to the HDMI port in your TV. Now go to your source/input menu on your TV and select the HDMI input you’re plugged into.

Step 2: Power and pair your remote

Open the battery compartment of your remote control and pop in the batteries as shown (they both go the same way up).

Your remote should now pair automatically with your Smart Box.
 

If your remote doesn’t pair automatically, hold down the small button below the battery compartment for a few seconds.

When the green light in the battery compartment flashes, your remote has connected.

 

 

Step 3: Connect to Wi-Fi

Next, your Smart Box will scan for wireless networks. Select yours from the list of networks using the up and down arrows on your remote and press OK. Enter your network password and hit Connect.

If you see an Update available message at this stage, just press OK to update the software. Your device will restart once the update is installed.

If it's positioned close enough, you could hook your Smart Box up to a router or modem instead using an Ethernet cable for a wired connection. (This could help avoid any problems with buffering if you have a slow Wi-Fi connection.)

 

Step 4: Set the display type

Your Smart Box can detect the best resolution for your TV. Press OK on your remote to do this automatically.
 

Just select ‘No’ when you see this screen:

You’ll be presented with options to change the display type. Pick the one you want and press OK to confirm.

 

Step 5: Sign in or sign up

Scroll down to read the terms and conditions, then hit Accept

Now grab your smartphone or computer and follow the instructions on your TV screen to sign in to your NOW TV account, or create an account if you're new to NOW TV.

Help tipWhen you see a code and you're asked to go to NOWTV.com/tv to enter it, make sure you type this address directly into your browser (rather than a search engine), and ensure the URL doesn't auto-correct and send you to NOWTV.com instead.


Wait a few moments while your apps update, then open the NOW TV app and away you go!

If there was a voucher in the box with your Smart Box, just head to the Passes & vouchers section of My Account (you may need to sign in), select the Apply a voucher link next to the Pass you've got a voucher for, and enter your code.
